Generating Green Energy: MEDIAN Group’s First Solar Panels in Germany Go Live
The MEDIAN Bad Pyrmont rehabilitation facility in Germany is now connected to the public grid, with the goal of generating its own sustainable energy through newly installed solar panels on its roof.
It is the first of approximately 50 rehabilitation clinics in Germany to have photovoltaic (PV) technology installed, with the MEDIAN Group investing 30 million euros to equip 130 hospitals, homes, and facilities across the UK, Germany, and Spain with this renewable energy solution.
MEDIAN Group CEO, Philipp Schulte-Noelle, said: “By adopting photovoltaics, we continue to reduce our reliance on traditional energy sources. As a Group, we are on track to save at least 3m Euros in energy costs per year with more than 80% of the energy being used by our hospitals and facilities themselves.”
With the aim of generating 13,000 MWh of solar energy annually, the photovoltaic project aligns with MEDIAN Group’s broader commitment to enhancing energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. Other green initiatives include: upgrading and replacing boilers with energy-efficient solutions like air heat pumps and combined heat and power systems, introducing electric vehicles for patient transport, and installing energy-saving LED lighting.
